TONY BLAIN 1935 - 2005 Tony was a wonderfully talented artist, and a brilliant teacher. His watercolours, oils and pastels were all equally superb. He was versatile and literally could put his hand at anything, ANY medium, and he was able to adapt to any style while never running out of steam. He was always totally dedicated, supportive and encouraging to his pupils, regardless of their age or ability. He was definitely one of the most productive artists I've ever known, and his treasured collection of art around our county is a real gem. Sadly Tony died suddenly on January 18th, 2005. Unfortunately this meant that his rich productivity came to a very abrupt end. He is now sadly missed by many people, art fans and pupils alike, and regrettably his marvelous future paintings which will now never be produced are missed too. My thoughts are with all his family. I drew this 10 min sketch during one of Tony's art classes, but it was never meant to be a great portrait. I'm afraid now this is all I have left of Tony: apart from the stunning watercolour boat-scene he painted which I possess, a beautiful painting that proudly decorates my walls. ooooOoooo |
